About EPCs

Most properties for sale or rent need a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) which remain valid for up to 10 years or until a new one is produced, however it is recommended you have one completed regularly.

An EPC is a legal document which provides an energy efficiency rating (displayed on a scale from A to G) in relation to a property’s running costs and is seen as a necessary aid to property buyers and renters by government. The rating takes into account the potential energy performance of the property itself along with its services such as heating and lighting.

Who can provide EPCs?

Only qualified Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) are allowed to produce EPCs although the actual rating is produced by the system based on the data taken. We visit your property and take measurements of the property structure throughout from which the energy rating is then derived and this is then formally loaded onto the government EPC database from where the certificates can be downloaded and printed.
